Kat von D Fell Asleep at the Wheel with Jesse James

I'm not sure why LA Ink star Kat von D, 29, and Jesse James, 41, split. RadarOnline.com, though, reported that the two argued about another woman in front of Kat's home on Monday afternoon. While a lot of the comments are about Jesse and how a "tiger doesn't change its stripes," their breakup didn't surprise me. Not because of Jesse's past philandering, we aren't 100% certain he cheated on Kat. She may be projecting his past onto their present. Moreover, it's because he never set a wedding date. I couldn't find any official announcement. Only that their wedding was to take place this summer.

So, Jesse proposes without setting a date. Kat -- instead of hightailing it out of there or maybe even playing hard-to-get -- is tweeting her love for Jesse, defending him tooth and nail, standing by her man, the whole bit. None of which he deserved all because he proposed without setting a date. Make no mistake, when a man proposes without setting a date, he may as well have bought the girl a dog because that's about as much as his proposal means. If he doesn't set a date, he's buying time and isn't all that interested in marrying.

Meanwhile, Jesse, the world's most hated man, who should've counted his lucky stars any woman was taking a chance on him, still doesn't set a date. Ay yi yi. This proves my point that a woman should play hard-to-get no matter what because even the world's most hated man will give you the run around if you don't.

But here's what really caught my attention. Kat ignored all of these signs, let her self-esteem take a beating, and gets a tattoo of Jesse. Us Magazine reported that the ink was of his fifth grade school picture. Kat getting tatted isn't so bad. I mean, it's like...her thing. It's that I don't understand how could she put something permanent on her body for a man on the fence about marrying her.

When Jesse found out that she did this...guess what he had to say? "You're crazy." And to make it even better, he puts the comment on Twitter, publicly criticizing her. He didn't opt to call or text her. Nah. His disrespect was so blatant that he wanted the world to know what he thought.

Jesse's philandering with Sandra aside (if that's possible), the writing was on the wall for Kat. Yet, she thought romantic overtures would bring him around. But, they didn't and it blew up miserably on her. If I'm wrong, and say, Kat cheated, I will acknowledge that I called this one incorrectly. I'm making my assessment pretty early, but based on what's out there in the media, Kat was asleep at the wheel.

For women who like to convict a man based on his past, the truth is that you don't always need to dissect all of doings with old flames. What's your relationship in the present? Is he doing right by you? You might not always be privy to historical information and will have to make the call for yourself. Stay focused on the "now."
